Dear Residents and Friends of the Scotia Fire Department,

Saying that I am proud to be the Chief of the Scotia Fire Department would most certainly be the understatement of the year.  I am constantly amazed at the level of professional service our career and volunteer firefighters provide to our community day in and day out.

Firefighting has become a highly technical career.  The residents of Scotia are getting more for their tax dollar by firefighters who are multi-disciplined.  Where many larger municipalities have separate careers for firefighters, emergency medical services and code enforcement officials; the career firefighters in Scotia are certified in all three areas.

As a value added bonus, Scotia is a combination department leveraging the tax dollar of a professional career staff and dedicated members of the community as highly trained volunteers.  This combination of emergency responders enable the department to cost effectively provide emergency services to the door of a residence or business with an average response time of 2 ½ minutes.  Our residents are comforted to know that if they or their family need help day or night, no matter the conditions outside, we will be there in minutes to help and protect them.

As the fire protection career has become more technical, the Scotia Fire Department is capable of servicing the community in the following areas:

  • Firefighting and rescue.

  • Initial hazardous materials response and weapons of mass destruction (WMD.)

  • Specialized rescue to include, but not limited to rope rescue, water rescue, industrial rescue, ice rescue and vehicle extrication.

  • Fire prevention programs to include code enforcement, lectures, school presentations, home fire safety visits upon request and fire station tours.

  • Emergency Medical Services as the only fire department in the Town of Glenville providing Advanced Life Support.

Thank you for your continued support.  Remember that this is YOUR fire department and we welcome and enjoy your visits.
